Each morning John would move the fence over a few feet, allowing the cattle access to fresh corn. After the corn was all eaten the field was seeded back to more traditional pasture. John standing next to some of the corn plants.

As the spring grass dried up, the cattle ate the green corn stalks and leaves as well as grass and clover that grew around the corn. As the plants matured there were also ears of corn and the cattle ate them, too, cob and all.
